Third-Party Trump

"If I am not treated fairly by the Republican party I very well might consider [a third-party run]."
That was Donald Trump. He probably sees this election cycle as his last opportunity for self-aggrandizement, and so will go all in. Being "treated fairly" means getting the ticket, and that being unlikely he will run as a third-party because of one perceived personal attack or another.

The interesting part of this speculation is whether Trump could actually upset the current two-party system. No one in recent memory has made a good third-party run at the White House who has also had the media pull of Trump. Not that he would win, but the constant media attention would acclimate people to the idea of a third-party.

Such could be the catalyst to a new political equilibrium. Within a decade or two I could see the media bleating "three-parties good, two-parties baaaaaad!" just like the sheep of Animal Farm.
